Gnomes adore names the way they adore any clever little invention — so they collect them. A typical gnome answers to a whole string: a given name, a clan name, a nickname, and often several playful pet names bestowed by family and friends. To other races a gnome may offer just one or two, but among their own kind the full collection can run comically long.
Gnome names tend to be bouncy and whimsical — Boddynock, Namfoodle, Waywocket — with clan names like Nackle or Timbers anchoring them. The nickname usually says the most about a gnome, earned from a hobby, a triumph, or a memorable disaster in the workshop.
