Fixing Misspellings in Your Transcripts or Notes
AI transcription sometimes misspells character names, locations, or fantasy terms. Learn how to quickly correct these errors across your entire campaign or in individual sessions.
Overview
Loreify provides two powerful ways to fix spelling errors in your transcripts:
Campaign-Wide Find & Replace
Fix a misspelling everywhere it appears across your entire campaign—in transcripts, summaries, lore entries, and more. Perfect for recurring character names or locations.
Session-Specific Editing
Make quick, one-off edits directly in your session notes. Ideal for fixing individual typos or making small corrections without affecting other sessions.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- An active Loreify subscription
- At least one session with a completed transcript
- Access to the campaign where the misspelling occurs
1Campaign-Wide Find & Replace
Use this method when a name or word is consistently misspelled across multiple sessions. The Find & Replace tool will correct it everywhere at once.
- 1.Navigate to your Campaign Log, then click the Settings or Edit Campaign button for the campaign containing the misspelling.
- 2.Scroll down to find the "Spelling Corrections" section. This is where you can manage all find-and-replace rules for your campaign.
- 3.In the "Find text" field, type the misspelled word exactly as it appears in your transcripts. For example, if "Gandalf" is being transcribed as "Gandolf", enter "Gandolf".
Tip: Enable "Case sensitive" if you only want to match the exact capitalization (e.g., "gandolf" vs "Gandolf").
- 4.In the "Replace with" field, type the correct spelling. Using our example, you would enter "Gandalf".
- 5.Click "Preview" to see how many records will be affected. This shows you exactly how many transcripts, summaries, lore entries, and other content will be updated.
When ready, click "Apply" to make the correction. You can apply corrections one at a time or use "Apply All" to process multiple corrections at once.
- 6.Optionally, check the "Add to dictionary" option to help the AI recognize the correct spelling in future transcriptions.
What Gets Updated?
The Find & Replace tool searches across all your campaign data including:
- Session transcripts
- AI-generated summaries
- Lore entries (NPCs, locations, items)
- Lore relationships
- Chat history from the Lore Engine
- Session titles and descriptions
2Editing Individual Sessions
Use this method for quick, one-off corrections in a specific session. This is ideal when you only need to fix something in one place.
- 1.From your Campaign Log, click on the session you want to edit to open the full session notes page.
- 2.Look for the "Edit" button near the top of the session notes. Click it to enable editing mode.
- 3.The session content becomes editable. Simply click on any text field and type your corrections. You can fix names, descriptions, or any other content.
- 4.When you're done editing, click the "Save" button to save your changes. If you want to discard your edits, click "Cancel" instead.

Troubleshooting
"Find & Replace shows 0 matches"
- Check that you've spelled the search term exactly as it appears in your transcripts
- Try disabling "Case sensitive" to match all variations
- The term might already be corrected—check your session notes to confirm
"Changes don't appear immediately"
- Refresh your browser after applying Find & Replace corrections
- Large campaigns may take a moment to process—wait a few seconds
- Check other sessions to verify the correction was applied everywhere
"I can't find the Edit button"
- Make sure you're on the full session notes page (click into a session from Campaign Log)
- The Edit button is near the session title, next to other action buttons
- Ensure you have an active subscription—editing requires a paid account
"Dictionary additions don't seem to help"
- Dictionary hints are used during transcription, so they only affect future sessions
- Unusual spellings may still be misheard—the AI does its best but isn't perfect
- Consider adding phonetic hints or alternative spellings to your dictionary
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I undo a Find & Replace?
Find & Replace changes are permanent, so always use the Preview feature to check what will be affected before applying. If you make a mistake, you can create a new correction to reverse it (replacing the new text with the old text).
Will corrections affect my Lore Map?
Yes! Find & Replace updates lore entities and relationships, so your Lore Map will reflect the corrected spellings. This helps keep your entire campaign consistent.
Can my party members make corrections?
Currently, only the campaign owner can make edits and corrections. Party members with shared access can view sessions but cannot modify them.
How do I prevent misspellings in the first place?
Use the Custom Dictionary feature in your campaign settings. Add character names, locations, and unique terms before your session. This gives the AI hints about correct spellings during transcription.
