How to Connect Discord to Loreify
Connect your Discord account to receive D&D session notes automatically delivered to your server.
Overview
Loreify's Discord integration allows you to:
- Link your Discord account to your Loreify profile
- Configure Discord servers to receive session notes automatically
- Get beautifully formatted notes delivered right to your Discord channel
- Share notes with party members who don't have Loreify accounts
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An active Loreify subscription
- A Discord account
- Admin access to the Discord server you want to connect (server owner or administrator role)
1Connect Your Discord Account
- 1.Log in to Loreify and navigate to Settings from the dashboard sidebar
- 2.Scroll down to the Discord Integration section
- 3.Click the "Connect Discord" button
- 4.You'll be redirected to Discord's authorization page
- 5.Review the permissions Loreify is requesting and click "Authorize"
- 6.You'll be redirected back to Loreify with a success message
- 7.Your Discord username and avatar will now appear in the Discord Integration section
2Add a Discord Server
Once your Discord account is connected, you can add servers to receive session notes.
- 1.In the Connected Servers section, click the "Select Server" button
Note: If you see "Add Bot to Server" instead, you'll need to invite the Loreify bot to your Discord server first (see below)
- 2.Select your server from the dropdown menu
Note: Only servers where you have admin access and the Loreify bot is present will appear
- 3.Select a Default Campaign (optional but recommended)
- Sessions from this server will be associated with this campaign
- This helps organize your notes and improves transcription with your campaign's custom dictionary
- 4.Click "Add Server" to confirm
Need to Add the Bot First?
If you see "Add Bot to Server" instead of "Select Server", it means the Loreify bot hasn't been added to any of your Discord servers yet.
- 1.Click "Add Bot to Server"
- 2.Select which Discord server you want to add the Loreify bot to
- 3.Authorize the bot permissions and complete the process
- 4.Return to Loreify Settings — your server should now appear in the dropdown
3Configure Server Settings
After adding a server, you can configure which campaign it's associated with.
- 1.Click the settings icon (gear) next to any server to modify its settings
- 2.Select a Default Campaign from the dropdown
Sessions recorded from this Discord server will be saved to this campaign
- 3.Click "Save Changes" to apply your settings
How Session Notes Are Delivered
When a session is processed, Loreify automatically delivers notes to your Discord server:
- 1.Notes are generated with AI (NPCs, quests, loot, locations, and more)
- 2.A rich embed message is sent to your configured Discord channel
- 3.The embed includes:
- Session summary - A brief overview of what happened
- NPCs encountered - Characters your party met
- Quests - New and updated quest information
- Loot obtained - Items and treasure found
- Shareable link - A link to view full notes on Loreify
Automatic Sharing: A public shareable link is automatically generated with each delivery, so party members without Loreify accounts can still view the complete session notes.
Managing Your Connection
Disconnect Your Discord Account
If you need to disconnect your Discord account:
- 1. Go to Settings → Discord Integration
- 2. Click the "Disconnect" button next to your Discord username
- 3. Confirm the disconnection
Note: Disconnecting preserves all your existing sessions and notes. Only future automatic delivery will stop.
Remove a Server
To stop receiving notes in a specific server:
- 1. Go to Settings → Discord Integration → Connected Servers
- 2. Click the delete icon (trash can) next to the server
- 3. Confirm the removal
Note: This stops note delivery but preserves all existing sessions that were associated with that server.
Troubleshooting
"I don't see my server in the dropdown"
- Add the bot first: The Loreify bot must be added to your server before it appears
- Check your permissions: You need admin access in that server
- Try reconnecting: Disconnect and reconnect your Discord account to refresh your server list
- Server owner? If you're the server owner, you automatically have admin access
"Notes aren't being delivered to Discord"
- Check your server list: Ensure the server is still in your Connected Servers list
- Verify the bot is still in your server: The Loreify bot may have been removed from your Discord server
- Check subscription: Make sure your Loreify subscription is active
- Processing time: Notes typically deliver 5-15 minutes after session processing completes
"I authorized but got an error"
- Clear browser cache: Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies for loreify.ai
- Reconnect: Disconnect your Discord account and try connecting again
- Different browser: Try using a different browser or incognito mode
- Contact support: If the issue persists, email jcole@loreify.ai
"My server shows but I can't add it"
- Permission check: Double-check you have admin access in the server
- Bot still present: Verify the Loreify bot hasn't been removed from your server
- Try refreshing: Disconnect and reconnect your Discord account to refresh
Frequently Asked Questions
What permissions does Loreify need?
Loreify requests minimal permissions:
- identify - Your Discord username and avatar
- guilds - A list of servers you're in (to show in the dropdown)
Loreify does NOT request permission to:
- Read your messages
- Post messages as you
- Access private channels
- Manage your server
Can multiple people connect to the same server?
Yes! Each party member can connect their own Loreify account to the same Discord server. Each person can manage their own campaign associations independently.
What happens to my sessions if I disconnect?
All your existing sessions remain in your Loreify account. Disconnecting only stops future automatic delivery to Discord. You can still:
- View all past sessions in your dashboard
- Share sessions manually using shareable links
- Reconnect Discord at any time
Is there a Discord bot for voice recording?
Voice channel recording is coming soon! Currently, the Discord integration:
- Delivers notes from sessions recorded through the Loreify web app
- Sends formatted embeds to your Discord channel
- Generates shareable links for your party
The upcoming Discord bot will allow you to record sessions directly from Discord voice channels.
Can I customize what gets posted to Discord?
Currently, Discord embeds include a summary of your session with key highlights. Full customization options are planned for a future update.
Do I need to keep Loreify open for notes to deliver?
No! Once you record and upload a session through Loreify, the processing and Discord delivery happen automatically on our servers. You can close your browser after uploading.
