Orc names are short, hard-edged, and guttural — built to be barked across a battlefield. In the traditions handed down from Gruumsh, the One-Eyed god, a name is a claim of strength, and orcs are often named for an ancestor, a war deed, or a quality the tribe hopes they will grow into.
Beyond a birth name, an orc usually earns an epithet — a descriptive title like "the Skullcleaver" or "Two-Axe" — won through a notable kill or feat. Half-orcs raised among humans often carry a human name alongside their orc one, switching between them depending on the company they keep.
